::I’m looking the driver for my keyboard / mouse, where can I find them?

::When there is a mouse pointer on the screen, but it does not move or stops moving, first please check if the problem is the mouse or the computer.

Many things can cause an optical mouse to have cursor movement problem. Possibilities range from surface to hardware problems.

The optical sensor must use the pattern on the surface to track the position of the cursor. Therefore, using the mouse on a glass or otherwise see-through surface will inhibit the ability of the sensor to track the cursor. Also, if you are using the mouse on a reflective surface, such as a mirror or shiny metal desk, some wood grains or grooved surfaces, may also experience tracking problems. In both these situations, try using the mouse on a mouse pad or piece of paper.

If the problem is not with the surfaces, please verify it is not a defective unit. Try another mouse on your current system or try the mouse on another system. If it fails on another system, chances are it is defective. In that case please contact the store you purchased from to inquire about a warranty.

If the mouse works fine on another system, or another mouse works fine in the port your mouse is connected to, then it may be a configuration issue. When this happens, verify the keyboard still works by pressing the "Caps Lock" key. If pressing the "Caps Lock" key does not change the Caps Lock indicator, the whole system may be locked up. In cases where the computer system is locked up, it maybe a general system issue. However, if the keyboard functions at the time the mouse cursor stops moving, verify the status of a Mouse entry in Device Manager by using the following instructions.

NOTE: The following directions assume the mouse is not functional, so keyboard commands are listed:

Classic Start Menu Steps

1. Press the "CTRL" and "ESC" keys to open the Start Menu.

2. Using the arrow keys, highlight "Settings." and highlight "Control Panel" and press the Enter key.

3. Continue with step 4 below.

Default Start Menu Steps

1.Press the "CTRL" and "ESC" keys to open the "Start" Button.

2.Using the arrow keys, highlight "Control Panel" and press the [enter] key.

3.Continue with step 4 below.

4.Using the tab key and arrow keys, select "System" and press the Enter key.
5.Using the arrow key, select the "Hardware" tab.

6.Using the tab key, highlight the “Device Manager” button and press the Enter key.

8. Press the right arrow key to view the mouse type icons. If there is an exclamation point (!) or a "red X" on the mouse type icon, this means there may be a problem with the device, or the device maybe set to "Disabled."

9. Press the down arrow key to highlight the first pointing device icon listed with errors.

10. Press the Delete key.

11. When the "Confirm Device Removal" box appears, press the Enter Key.

12. Follow steps 8-11 until all the pointing device icons with errors have been removed.

13. Now press the Alt-A keys. From the Action menu, select "Scan for hardware changes," and press the Enter key. Alternatively, you may do a safe shutdown and restart the system to allow Windows to redetect the pointing device hardware.

If Windows does not correctly redetect your mouse, launch the Add Hardware Wizard from the "Printers and Other Hardware" screen.

1. Use the steps above to open the Control Panel.

2. Highlight the "Add New Hardware" icon and press the Enter key.

3. Follow the on screen prompts to detect a pointing device.

If the mouse pointer still does not move, then it is most likely a hardware problem and you may need to contact the hardware vendor of your system. You may also try the "Troubleshooter" offered by Windows XP. The Windows XP Troubleshooter help you diagnose and solve technical problems that are occurring with your computer.
